Bride Found Dead in Own Bedroom

Kano — A 20-year-old bride, Zainab Yusif, was found dead on Tuesday in her matrimonial home at Sabuwar Gandu quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State. Daily Trust gathered that the deceased died ten days into her marriage which held on June 2.

Husband of the deceased, Malam Inuwa Idris Yakasai, who is the Director of Information in the Ministry of Information of the state, told Daily Trust that he arrived home after close of work to find his new wife lying dead in their bedroom.

"After I closed from the work around 5:30 pm, I just headed to my bride's house at Sabuwar Gandu. When I reached, I honked twice, and she did not come to open the gate for me as she used to. Then I came out of the car and knocked at the door, but still nobody came. I then decided to use my key to open the gate. As I entered the house, I saw a ladder, and noticed that the barbwire of the house had been removed.

At that point, I became worried and started calling my bride's name, but nobody answered me. When I entered our main floor, I found her dead. I noticed that there was blood on her nose, and there was a knife and flyer beside her," he said.

It was also gathered that two boxes of cloths and some of the groom's shoes were taken away. When contacted, the state's police command through its spokesperson, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya, confirmed the incident, saying the command has already made an arrest in connection with the incident, and that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
