The president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Samson Ayokunle wants religious leaders to always give priority to sermons that will promote honesty, patriotism and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
Rev. Dr. Ayokunle made this call in a message during the 7th Year Appreciation and Honorarium Service for Deacons and Deaconesses of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The Baptist Convention President, who was represented by the Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Abuja, Rev. Julius Abiola Ayotunde, attributed most challenges confronting the country to loss of honesty and patriotic values among some Nigerians.
Earlier, the chairman of the Appreciation Committee, Prince Tunji Kofoworola, said the event was organised to appreciate the contributions of the deacons and deaconesses to the progress of the Church.
