Ilorin — Former chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi, has charged intending pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia to shun drug trafficking and other illicit activities.
He warned pilgrims that drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia, apart from attracting severe punishment like death or life incarceration, will also affect the country's image. Akanbi, who is the Kwara State Amirul Hajj for this year's exercise, gave the warning during an enlightenment programme organised by the state Muslim Pilgrims' Welfare Board for intending pilgrims. The chairman of the board, Imam Uthman Olosun, also charged the intending pilgrims to represent Nigeria well in the holy land.
